Conciliation is a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in which parties bring their dispute to a neutral third party expert known as a conciliator. Conciliators work to lower tensions, improve communication, and explore possible solutions. Conciliation is similar to mediation, except it is less formal. In fact, conciliation sessions are not always conducted in-person (they are often done via telephone or email). At the end of the conciliation process, parties may choose to accept a proposed solution offered by the conciliator.
